A Message from Sarah Anker:

PUTTING PEOPLE OVER POLITICS

I am deeply grateful for the support and confidence you have given by electing and re-electing me as your Suffolk County Legislator for the past 13 years in 7 very challenging campaigns. I feel there is more work to be done and I have accepted the nomination for the NYS Senate to continue building on my legislative accomplishments. As a legislator, I focused on putting the people of my district first and I believe I can step up and continue doing more for our communities on a state level. In 2011, I started my political campaign journey with full support of unions that included Federation of Labor, Building Trades, Suffolk County Law Enforcement, and Teachers Unions. During that time, collective bargaining rights were being challenged in this county, and with a united force we were able to succeed in our pro-union campaign. As the daughter of an IBEW union member, I grew up in a union household and I understand how important the protection and support of workers can be to families. Unions represent a large portion of my former legislative district and the senate district I am currently running in, and now I want to take my past experience to proactively support our unions to Albany, and continue to fight for Long Island families, our environmental future, and economic prosperity for all.

"It’s been my honor to serve the residents of Suffolk County as a Legislator. Together we worked to improve quality of life by prioritizing fiscal responsibility, public safety, community revitalization, local business support, health issues, and environmental conservation. I’m committed to providing real results as I have done in the past for our families, and I look forward to assisting those in need as your New York State Senator."
